Ewert Dinner keynote speaker announced

UNBC is bringing in Dr. Martin Magne to speak during the 13th annual Bob Ewert Memorial Dinner.

Magne led the underwater archaeology team that found the HMS Erebus from the 1845 Franklin Expedition. This fall, the HMS Terror was found about 100km away from the Erebus in Nunavut’s Terror Bay.

UNBC President Daniel Weeks says the dinner is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Northern Medical Programs Trust.

“That trust assists students at UNBC in the Northern Medical Program and in fact in other medical related areas like the nursing program and other kinds of initiatives around health.”

Bob Ewert was the first medical specialist to practice in Prince George.

Weeks says Magne should make a perfect guest next year, and will coincide well with Canada150 celebrations.

This years event takes place on Saturday April 8th, 2017. Tickets cost $125 or $1,200 for table.
