Ahead of Prince George’s fourth Talktober session this afternoon, Mayor Lyn Hall says the impressions he’s received from the previous three were “great.”
He’s happy to hear different needs in each community compared to last year. In October 2015, Council and staff heard about things like snow plowing, potholes, and road issues.
This year, Mayor Hall says multi-use park space, similar to the new Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park in the Hart, have been a popular topic.
“I think the reason it’s so popular is that it just gives another opportunity for the young kids to have something to do. Kids ride bikes, they have skateboards … It means us working with the community.”
If a multi-use space is something you’d like to see in your area, Hall recommends sitting down with your neighbourhood and making a plan.
“Get our community together, put a plan in place, identify property and places (you) could choose from and a little bit of fundraising is good and that puts us in a little better position to start looking being able to fund some of this stuff.”
Other big topics have included lights and sidewalks, especially at the Hart Talktober on the 18th.
Today’s Talktober is at the Wood Innovation and Design Centre (499 George St.) from 4:30 – 6:30.
The fifth and final Talktober will be for residents in the Bowl. It’ll be Wednesday evening at College of New Caledonia Atrium (3330 22nd Ave.) from 6:30 – 8:30.
