Operation Red Nose gearing up for 2016 campaign

The 2016 campaign for Operation Red Nose in Prince George is nearing the 100 volunteer mark.

Spokesperson, Andrea Johnson says they are elated with the early numbers. “We have about 96 volunteers who have stepped up to the plate and help out this and were just encouraging people to get their applications in as soon as possible so the RCMP can complete their criminal record check.”

Johnson adds while they are one-third of the way through, more bodies are needed for their peak times. “We would really love to have 350 volunteers as that’s always been our goal based on the rides we expect for New year’s Eve.”

This year’s service will begin November 25th and 26th which will run every weekend in December with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Last year’s campaign issued 1059 safe rides which is the third highest total ever in Prince George.

Operation Red Nose will be at the CHL Canada-Russia Super Series game on November 7th along with appearances on the 21st at CN Centre with the Prince George Cougars and the 25th during the Prince George Spruce Kings game against the Coquitlam Express.
