Dark sky cast over PG Friday morning

There’s a dark sky out there for morning commuters around Prince George.
The Prince George Fire Cente chalks it up to several things; wind blowing in smoke from the Bulkley Valley, combined with another large fire to the north west, while a light storm front is moving in, starting to bring some rain to the area.
Meteorologist Allan Coldwells says the rain will spell some relief for fire fighters , while around town, we won’t be seeing that hot, dry, weather any time soon.
“There’s a bit of a cold front starting to develop, that should help to bring those showers to the Prince George area,” he says. “As well as quite a bit cooler temperatures, the highs will only be about 17 degrees.”
He also warns that wind and lightning will make fire fighting efforts more challenging.
Because of the thick smoke, several flights through YXS have been delayed. For up-to-date information on flight schedules, visit pgairport.ca/.
We’ll have more information if another Air Quality Advisory is issued, for real-time updates, visit bcairquality.ca/bluesky/west/.
