A 34 point effort from Rhys Elliott wasn’t enough as the UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team was swept on the road by the Winnipeg Wesmen.
The Wesmen jumped out to a 42-32 lead at recess before playing a near even second half to maintain an 84-75 advantage at the conclusion of the game.
UNBC also received a 19 point effort from Vaggelis Loukas while Winnpeg was led by Sean Tarver with 29 points.
The Timberwolves went a chilly 6 for 22 from beyond the arch.
On the women’s side, UNBC could not overcome a 34-20 deficit at half-time falling 66-51 against the Wesmen.
Maria Mongomo led the Timberwolves in scoring with 15 points.
Winnipeg was lead offensively by Antoinette Miller who potted 21 points.
Both UNBC basketball teams drop to 0-2 and will host Alberta Friday and Saturday.
