Spruce Kings thump Warriors to complete road swing

The Prince George Spruce Kings took their frustrations out on the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday thumping the defending RBC Cup Champions by a 6-1 score.

It was a fast start offensively for Prince George who jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes thanks to goals from Travis Schneider and former Warriors Brett Mennear and Tyler Anderson.

The onslaught continued in the second when Kyle Johnson potted his 6th of the campaign slipping it past Warriors goalie Shane Farkas.

Anderson would then record his second of the contest from Mennear in the third just before Ben Poisson added a late marker with under 4 minutes remaining.

Blake Coffey scored the lone goal for West Kelowna.

Prince George went 3 for 7 on the power-play.

Stefan Wornig made saves in the victory.

It was the first game in West Kelowna for Mennear and Anderson since they won the RBC Cup last season with the Warriors which included PG natives Liam Blackburn and Jake LeBrun.

Spruce Kings improve to 9-10-0-2 on the season and sit four points up on the Langley Rivermen for third in the Mainland Division.

Prince George continues its 5 game road swing Thursday and Friday against Coquitlam and Surrey.
