Prince George housing starts reach 282 in 2016

2016 has been a banner year so far for Prince George housing starts.

282 have been recorded as of the end of October and Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation Analyst, Taylor Pardy says cities of similar size have also seen a boom.

“If we look at places such as Vernon, they have 286 starts so far this year which is relative to their 239 at this time last year but we also have a similar story in Kamloops with 507 starts compared to 460.”

23 new homes broke ground last month in the city with 20 of those in the single detached category.

Multi-unit homes have seen a surge in Prince George this year with 123 new homes breaking ground compared to just 73 at this time last year.
