WorkSafeBC laments on injured workers during fall and winter months

15 workers have been killed and over 280 have missed time in the past decade after being struck by a vehicle while on the job.

146 of those injuries occur during the fall and winter months according to Mark Ordeman with WorkSafeBC.

“That really speaks to us that fall and winter mean something and it’s not hard to figure out. The weather is worse, it’s raining or snowing, visibility takes a hit and with those elements you have less light during the day.”

Many different types of workers perform their duties next to traffic.

They include construction workers, transit operators, letter carriers, semi-drivers, firefighters along with delivery and courier drivers.
