A number of trends related to property crime have been noted by the Prince George RCMP.
On the topic of Commerical Break and Enters, several items are high on the priority list for local thieves according to Corporal Craig Douglass.
“We’re finding that a lot of fenced compounds are being broken into especially towards heavy equipment like dirt bikes, heavy equipment, copper wire and even vehicle batteries have been stolen.”
Douglass compares that to where the vehicle theft situation sits.
“If you leave anything in sight, especially if the door is unlocked they are going to go in and take it. Don’t leave anything in sight and make sure your vehicle is secured, rarely do they break into a vehicle usually its people that leave their doors unlocked.”
According to police, the majority of Residential Break and Enters occur in the bowl area with a handful also taking place in College Heights, Cranbrook Hill, and The Hart.
In terms of Auto Theft, thieves are focusing on Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks in industrial areas.
Police encourage motorists to install anti-theft devices.
