An investigation is underway after a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Saturday night that claimed the life of a 30-year old man.
It happened just after 7PM at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Highway 97 in Prince George.
“A northbound SUV was preceding through a green light at that intersection when a pedestrian went onto the roadway essentially and was struck,” says RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass.
It’s the second incident of this kind in less than a week along 5th Avenue but Douglass doesn’t view it as a high-collision location.
“This time of year it gets darker earlier, people often on foot, wear dark-colored clothing and don’t wear any bright or reflective gear. We would like to see more of that but certainly do not see 5th as a problem area.”
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
Police encourage residents to wear bright reflective clothing and to obey all traffic laws.
