Time is ticking for local residents to sign up for the Woodstove Exchange Program

Residents in Prince George and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George have a month to sign up for the provincial Woodstove Exchange Program.

Theresa Fresco with PGAIR explains why you should trade up. “With the old smoky woodstoves, they are very inefficient in terms of how much particulate matter they emit into the air where the newer ones have more technology, they also are EPA and Canadian certified.”

Fresco adds you better act fast or you’ll miss out on a good opportunity. “For the Prince George community, we have about 4 tracking numbers left and its the same situation with the regional district with 11 left.”

Anyone who trades in their old smoky woodstove for a new emissions certified wood burning or pellet appliance can receive a $500 rebate.

Program participants can also get an additional $130 rebate if they require a Heating Unit Permit.

The deadline to submit your application is December 21st.
