The Prince George Spruce Kings continued their winning ways at home after a 6-3 defeat of the Surrey Eagles on Saturday.
Tyler Anderson put Prince George on top at the end of the 1st period with an unassisted marker making it 1-0.
The offense picked up in the middle frame as Jamie Huber potted his ninth of the season taking advantage of a Brett Mennear pass for a 2-0 lead.
Sam De Melo extended the advantage for Prince George 4 minutes later sliding another past Eagles goalie Michael Botiz.
Surrey would finally get on the board later in the period courtesy of Nick Minerva with one second left in the stanza making it 3-1 Spruce Kings lead after 2.
Both teams traded markers in the third starting with Kyle Johnson completing a passing play from Jarod Hovde and Ethan De Jong.
Ty Westgard once again cut the deficit in half with goal of his own for Surrey making it 4-2.
That’s as close as the Eagles would get however as Huber potted his second of the game from Mennear followed by a single from Chong Lee.
Jeffrey Stewart replied late for the Eagles.
Surrey was outshot 41-24.
Tavin Grant made 21 saves in the victory.
Prince George improves to 12-10-1-2 on the season and is now 5 points up on the Eagles for 3rd place in the Mainland Division and six up on the Langley Rivermen.
The Spruce Kings entertain the Coquitlam Express and Salmon Arm Silverbacks next Friday and Saturday from the RMCA.
