5 Prince George groups receive $179K in gaming grants

A few groups in the Prince George area in the public safety and environment sectors are receiving $179,000 from the latest round of provincial gaming grants.

One recipient is the Prince George Regional Highway Rescue Society, which will get $60,000.

During his time as an RCMP officer, MLA Mike Morris has seen just how important that society is.

“They provide an invaluable service in helping police and first responders get victims out of vehicles when they’re trapped in there so anything we can do to help these organisations do their job, I’m all for that.”

The other organisations receiving funds:

Prince George Search and Rescue Society – $70,000
Prince George Recycling & Environmental Action & Planning Society – $26,000
Prince George Amateur Radio Club – $15,000
Prince George Crime Stoppers Association – $8,000

Each year, the Government of BC approves around $135 million in community gaming grants for non-profits across six sectors. The other four are arts and culture, sport, human and social service, and parent and district parent advisory councils.
