Fatal collision closes Highway 97 near Chetwynd

Chetwynd RCMP are on the scene of a two vehicle collision that has claimed one life and have left three others seriously injured.

The collision took place just afternoon noon on Highway 97, 200 meters south of Mt. Le Moray. Highway 97 is currently closed in both directions.

A collision analyst has been called to the scene but police say they believe “speed relative to road conditions” may have contributed to the crash.

DriveBC is estimating  the highway will remain closed until 9 pm this evening.
