BC has the second most optimistic small businesses in Canada with a rating of 69.
It rose 3.5 points in November and only trails Prince Edward Island who has the top rating in the country at 71.4.
Canadian Federation of Independent Business Economist, Aaron Aerts says things are back to normal after a rough summer. “It’s looking good, the trend is reversing since we had seen some declines earlier in the summer but now we are seeing a bounce back that is looking good.”
Aerts believes the high rating should stick around for a while.
“We’re at a level that is sustainable and I don’t really expect a huge increase or decrease, hopefully it stays at this level because we’re sitting at a healthy level in terms of where the optimism is because anything between 65 and 75 is considered an economy that is performing at to its potential.”
41% of entrepreneurs in the province this month believe the general state of health of their business is good which is down four points since October.
In November, 16% of small businesses in BC plan to increase to full-time staff in the next three months.
