Winterhawks explode late to knock off the visiting Cougars

For just the second time this season the Prince George Cougars have lost back-to-back games.

The Portland Winterhawks scored three straight goals in the final 6:06 of the 3rd period to snap a 3-3 tie and double the Cougars 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The game was less than 24 hours after Prince George dropped a 3-0 decision to the Western Conference leading Everett Silvertips Saturday night.

Colby McAuley with a pair and Brendan Guhle tallied for the Cats, who out-shot the Winterhawks 42-33.

The Cougars slip to 18-6-2 overall and 10-3-1 on the road.

They wrap up a 3-game trip against the last place Giants Tuesday in Vancouver.

Prince George will start a 7-game home-stand on Friday against Victoria in the first of a doubleheader against the Royals.
