Many workers and home owners in the province are decorating for the holidays and WorkSafe BC is preaching ladder safety.
Director of Field Prevention Services Dan Strand says the number of incidents involving ladders isn’t good.
“We focus most our attention on construction sites and where ladders are used primarily and upwards of 9,000 workers have been seriously injured over the past decade and in fact have had 17 worker-related deaths.”
Some safety tips include ensuring the ladder is in good working condition, never hang lights from the top two rungs of the ladder and to wear slip-proof footwear.
