Volunteer Prince George joining Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge

The Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge is taking flight and Prince George residents are asked to give 150 hours of their time in celebration of the country’s birthday next year.

Volunteer Prince George General Manager Sarah Foot believes volunteering is a big part of the Canadian fabric.

“I think volunteering is very key thing to the Canadian culture and it’s really exciting. I think as an country we can be proud to say that we’re involved.”

The opportunity is tailor-made for a city like Prince George. “A community like Prince George that has taken the title of the volunteer city I think that really speaks to who are community members are and I really think we can be the city that can take the Canada 150 for 150 challenge across the country,” says Foot.

Anyone interested can register at www.volunteerpg.com. and the platform will be accessible later this month.

Canadians volunteer an average of 159 hours per year and 59% of the population have volunteered at some point in their lives.
