City of PG brightens up the Hart with new lighting

The City of Prince George is making the Hart a little brighter thanks to some new lighting.

Mayor Lyn Hall says it’s substantial progress, but would also like to see it taken a step further.

“We put 30 plus lights up from North Nechako Road to Highland Drive and then we’ve got a second phase which we hope runs from Highland to Vellencher but my wish is to have it lit all the way to Chief Lake Road.”

Hall adds the improvements have been a long time coming. “It is long overdue, I have driven that stretch and people will tell you it can be very dangerous at night especially if it rains or snows and is dark. It’s overdue and from a safety perspective it will certainly help.”

Last winter, a similar project was completed with BC Hydro to install lighting at Tyner Boulevard from Ospika Boulevard to UNBC.
