Efforts to get more family doctors are paying off

Its seems to be getting easier to find a family doctor in Prince George. The Prince George Division of Family Practice says access to a doctor in the city is starting to get painless. Lead Physician Dr. Garry Knoll says this is because doctors are able to accommodate more patients.

“And some of the clinics have increased their staffing,” says Knoll, “and have been able to get doctors into the community and to establish some practices.”

Knoll says its difficult to know how many families don’t have a doctor as those numbers are not tracked. He says the biggest obstacle of keeping physicians in the city, is having competition with Kamloops, Kelowna and Vancouver.
