–The Westwood Pub Devils are champions in Prince George Senior Lacrosse. The Devils improved their season record to 19-0 with a 15-11 victory over the Northland/Nissan Assault to take the best of seven final 4-0. Next up on the local lacrosse scene will be the Treasure Cove Cup Provincials playoffs in Prince George August 15-17.

–Custom Edge Sports won the playoff title in Spruce City Men’s Fastball. MVP Geoff Morgan homered twice to help Custom Edge to an 11-4 triumph over Superior Fencing Reds in the 3rd and deciding game of the best of three final.

–Former Prince George Cougars forward Dana Tyrell has re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 25-year-old from Airdrie, Alberta agreed to a one-year, two-way deal. Tyrell played seven games for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He also suited up for 63 games for the AHL Springfield Falcons and Syracuse Crunch and had a combined 15 goals and 33 points. The Blue Jackets acquired Tyrell (and defenseman Matt Taormina) from the Lightning in March for forwards Dalton Smith and Jonathan Marchessault. Tyrell notched seven goals and 24 points in 132 games with Tampa Bay.
