Prince George murder rate on track to rise in 2017

After Wednesday’s double homicide, Prince George could be on track to reach its highest murder rate in years.

In 2016, the Prince George RCMP recorded 4 murders in the city. 3 have been confirmed and the fourth is a missing person police believe was likely murdered.

Four people were murdered in the city in 2015 as well.

In 2013 and 2014, the Prince George RCMP only recorded a single murder each year.

These numbers were included in the RCMP’s Year in Review presentation to City Council on January 9.
