It was a good start to a three game weekend road trip for the Prince George Spruce Kings as they skated to a 3-1 win over the Merritt Centennials on Friday.
After a scoreless first period, Ben Brar put the visitors on the board in the middle frame slipping one past Merritt goaltender Colten Lancaster to make it 1-0.
Nick Fidenza would help the Centennials draw even before the end of the frame scoring his fifth of the campaign past Prince George goalkeeper Tavin Grant.
The Spruce Kings pulled through with a strong two-goal third period when Brar assisted on the game-winner from Chong Lee followed by Brar’s second of the game with 11 seconds left.
Tavin Grant made 36 saves for the Spruce Kings, who ended a five game losing streak.
Prince George plays on Saturday against Salmon Arm and Sunday in Vernon.
