Thompson Blazers goaltender Max Palaga was the best player on the ice Saturday in a road effort against the Cariboo Cougars.
Unfortunately his 44 save performance was not enough to propel the Blazers who fell 4-2 to the Cougars.
It was a good start for Thompson who jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes courtesy of Carter Eschyshyn who zipped one past Cougars netminder Marcus Allen.
Brennan Malgunas put Cariboo on the board in the second period banging a point shot past Pulaga making the score 1-1.
Later in the frame, the Blazers re-claimed thanks to Aleksandre Erichuk who gave Thompson a 2-1 lead after two periods.
Cariboo cranked up the heat in the third with three unanswered goals Mason Richey, Jesse Pomeroy and Daine Dubois to give them the victory.
The Cougars outshot the Blazers 48-18.
Both teams play again on Sunday at 10AM from Kin 1.
