The Prince George Crime Stoppers Society honoured the contribution of local officers as part of Crime Stopper Month today.
Superintendent Warren Brown acknowledged the organization and the public’s role in solving crime
“Today we actually get to acknowledge a positive venture here so thank you to Crime Stoppers as well as the community for making this program as successful as what it is,” said RCMP Superintendent Warren Brown. “Without the eyes and ears of you folks in the community. We would have a lot of crimes simply go unsolved.”
Prince George RCMP Constable Derek Rondeau has been awarded the Prince George Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year Award for his dedication to follow up on tips from the public.
Rondeau said he was humbled to be honoured, especially considering past winners.
“Being posted in the north my whole service and being around for quite some time I actually personally know most of the members here that have been nominated officer of the year. To be nominated and to be among this group of strong members – this is a big honour and I really appreciate it from the board and Crime Stoppers.”
The City’s ‘D’ Watch, led by Staff Sergeant Carlos Tettolowski, was named Watch of the Year for leading the RCMP’s watch crews in arrests and charges stemming from investigations of Crime Stoppers Tips.
