Electrical boiler malfunction caused downtown fire, no injuries

Prince George firefighters from four halls were called to the 500 block of Victoria Street just after 10:30 AM following a report of smoke inside a building.

Upon arrival, fire crews could smell burnt electrical wires coming from the building’s second story. Residents put out the fire with an extinguisher before fire rescue could reach the floor.

It was determined the cause was an electrical boiler shorting out.

Crews stayed on scene for about an hour and a half after the fire was extinguished to check for fire extension, ventilation, and overhaul.

Luckily there were not injuries during this incident. There is no damage estimate yet available.
