Hoyer celebrates X Games title

The gold medal winner of the first ever X Games Snow BikeCross is excited and still in disbelief.

Brock Hoyer of Williams Lake made the 20 hour drive back from the Aspen X Games and is now in Revelstoke working on some film projects and preparing to compete for his first round of the Canadian Snow Bike MX National series.

“Right after the win it was overwhelming how many people reached out and said congrats, messages and cheering, and Facebook and Instagram. My phone has never been so busy.”

Hoyer adds there was a lot of sacrifice and hard work leading to his win.

He says although he thought he threw it away after hitting the deck, he knew he just had to put his head down and that it’s not over until the finish line.

“Just being a small town kid, and still having tons of small town backing, I feel like I bring this medal home to everyone in Williams Lake and to Canada.”

A field of 15 competed and Hoyer finished 12 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the 30-lap race.

He trains during the winter as a snow bike rider and competes as a motocross racer in the summer.
