A complete water ban is in effect after a Mount Polley tailings pond breach.
The Cariboo Regional District has put in the ban that includes recreational, drinking, bathing, and cooking water.
Emergency crews were first called to the area south east of Quensel at around two this morning.
A helicopter search of the area is underway and more details will be released as it becomes available.
The CRD has set up an information line at 250-398-5581.
