Railway museum soon to be more accessible

Some upgrades and renovations will be coming to the Railway and Forestry Museum soon. Workers will soon start making the site fully accessible for people coming to see the trains and rail cars. Executive Director Ranjit Gil says the idea behind the project is two fold.

“One to provide accessibility, and the other is to cover some of the rail-cars, so in essence what this display pavilion will do is cover two tracks of rail cars, and in the middle we’ll have a ramp that will be to provide accessibility for people in wheelchairs, strollers and walkers.”

Gil says the whole project is expected to cost around $500,000 to complete. She says the Museum expects to get it done as money for it becomes available.
