The Westwood Pub Devils won the Treasure Cove Provincial Senior C Lacrosse Championship. The Devils outscored the Port Moody Express 10-6 in the final before more than 300 fans at Kin 1. The game was tied 5-5 after two periods. Westwood Pub finished 24-0 on the season after going 5-0 in the five team tournament. The BX Pub Bandits took bronze after a 17-7 triumph over the Northland/Nissan Assault. The Assault was named most sportsmanlike team.

–Canada’s Under-18 summer hockey team, which included Jansen Harkins of the Prince George Cougars, dominated the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. The Canadian side whipped the host Czech Republic 6-2 in the final to finish 5-0; outscoring the opposition 32-10 while winning each game by at least four goals. Harkins did not have a point against the Czechs but finished with two goals and four assists in five games. Canada has won the tournament seven straight years, winning 31 of 33 games over that period. The Canadian team has also captured 19 of 24 summer tournaments since 1991. Canada’s 22 man roster included 8 players from the WHL, 8 from the OHL and 6 from the QMJHL.
