The door is always open for sharing: IMSS director

The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS) has welcomed a new Executive Director, who hopes to bring the community closer together.

Ravi Saxena, a former candidate for Prince George City Council in 2014, says he’s excited to take the helm and reach out to local residents of different ethnicities.

“We’re going to go into the community and we will show that we can work out and achieve a solution. My door is open for anyone; they can come any time and share their concerns and comments.”

Originally from India, Saxena has been living in Northern BC for nearly 10 years and understands the need for group engagement amongst several cultures.

He adds he’ll also be in constant communication with his staff for group input.

“We’ll go with the basic mission, and we’ll start from there because we want to go back and see where we started and how we can help the community. That is a big challenge, but we will try our best to do that.”

He explains a Diversity Day is being planned for later this year and hopes the City will allow IMSS to organize the event.

“We want to help the society! We are looking forward to their support and we are there always to keep them at where their expectations are at.”

Saxena also received an MBA from UNBC five years ago.
