BC Transit to offer bus fare for just a loonie on Canada Day in PG

Anyone taking the bus to enjoy the Canada Day festivities at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial and Canada Games Plaza can do so for just a buck.

BC Transit Communications Manager Jonathan Dyck says another form of payment will also be accepted.

“You can choose to donate a non-perishable food item instead of paying that $1 fare and that non-perishable food item will go to the Salvation Army in exchange for riding the bus.”

The buses will run on a Sunday schedule.

“Extended service will be available on route 46 Queensway until 4:30 pm, Route 15 UNBC and on 15th Avenue, 88 Westgate, and 89 Hart will be offering extended late night service ending at midnight as well,” says Dyck.

This is one of the several promotions the city provides transit riders throughout the year to promote ridership.

Canada’s birthday celebrations will continue throughout the week with the Canada 150 Heatwave outdoor festival at Canada Games Plaza. Regular transit fares and schedules will apply.
