Prince George man charged after alleged assault of Jasper RCMP officer

A Prince George man allegedly assaulted a Jasper RCMP officer after being pulled over for speeding earlier this week.

On Monday, June 26, an officer attempted to issue a ticket to 44 year old Sansan Hien for speeding in a construction zone. While the ticket was being prepared, Hien allegedly became aggressive and assaulted the officer. In the altercation RCMP say ensued, the officer deployed a Taser and Hien was taken into custody without further incident.

He is now facing two charges under the Criminal Code – one of assault on a police officer and one of resisting arrest – and a single charge of speeding in a construction zone under the Traffic Safety Act. He is scheduled to appear at the Jasper Provincial Courthouse on July 27.
