Local group still looking for Canada Day volunteers

The Multicultural Heritage Society in Prince George needs volunteers for Saturday’s Canada Day event at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Festival Coordinator Kris Bokvist says they’re looking to fill a particular area.

“Our biggest areas that we need is face painting for the kid’s activities and nobody has to be an artist. The volunteers can just come down and do some simple hearts and smiles and Canada Day flags and things like that, the kids aren’t super picky.”

The society is also in search of people to hand out programs, pins, and flags.

The shifts run from 12 to 4 pm.

Bokvist adds it is pretty easy to signup.

“We have a volunteer check-in tent where we kind of get everyone to come to and then we send them out into the park to where they’re needed. We do ask that anyone who is interested in coming by our office here at 535 Dominion Street to fill out an application form so that we have things like emergency contacts and that sort of stuff done first.”

The society would like to have 40 to 50 volunteers for the annual event.

You can also call the Multicultural Heritage Society office at 250-563-8525.
