Cariboo man facing a first-degree murder charge in the Yukon

A 20-year old man from Quesnel is facing a first-degree murder charge following an incident in Whitehorse.

According to the Yukon RCMP, it is in connection with the death of 25-year old Adam Cormack, whose body was discovered on June 28.

Edward James Penner appeared in Whitehorse court on Sunday and has been remanded in custody until his next court date on Wednesday.

The matter is under investigation.

He also has ties to Prince George as he was arrested behind the BX Pub Liquor store in January of 2016.

Penner was allegedly wearing a mask and demanded cash before fleeing on foot with beer, cash, and cigarettes.

When he was arrested during the incident, the Prince George RCMP discovered he had a large knife and a small quantity of heroin and methamphetamine on him.
