Downtown Summerfest 2017 looking to dazzle once again

Prince George residents will ‘take to the streets’ during Downtown Summerfest.

If you plan to attend, it’s probably a wise idea to bring your appetite. “It’s going to be a very important thing to bring with you to Downtown Summerfest. The Canadian Western Bank Taste Pavilion is also going to feature 26 restaurants this year,” says Colleen Van Mook, executive director of Downtown Prince George.

The area along 6th Avenue right in front of City Hall should see an invasion of food trucks according to events coordinator Heidi Martel. “Frozen Paddle will be there, Booster Juice, Smokehouse On The Run, Just Doggin It with their elephant ears and Nepal Ice Cream with those mini donuts.”

The 2017 edition of the annual summer event should be appealing for those who love to shop Van Mook says.

“We have this year over 60 exhibitors in Exhibitor Alley, so you can do some shopping and just have a really good sample of different groups in our community as well as artisans and people who are sharing their talents.”

To top it all off, the TD Mainstage should leave you dancing and clapping in the streets with this year’s musical lineup. “We have the Steel Wheels Blue Band to kick things off – we also have Chloe Nakahara who is an incredible fiddler and the Redwhyn band coming from Prince George,” says Martel.

Other musical acts include Sean Ashby and Eryn Robertson.

Downtown Summerfest runs from 11 am to 5 pm on July 16.

Taste Tickets can be purchased in advance at  Canadian Western Bank located at 300 Victoria Street and Tourism Prince George on 101-1300 1st Avenue or on the day of the event.
