Northern Health has launched its first annual Summer of Wellness campaign.
The inaugural event will run until September 3 with a focus on what it means to be healthy in northern BC.
“During that time, Northern Health will be sharing daily holistic messages that showcase and celebrate health and ways that you can invite wellness into your life,” says Stacie Weich, regional lead for Mental Wellness and Prevention of Substance Harms. “A piece of that is through social media – we can watch messages on Facebook and Twitter, visiting the Northern Health Matters blog for weekly post.”
The campaign will cover health and wellness issues from air quality, immunizations, indigenous health and workplace health and safety. Weich says the goal is to “exemplify the Northern way of caring” while promoting wellness during the summer months.

Northern Health is also issuing a challenge to the public.
“We are inviting northerners to tell us what wellness means to them and encouraging people to submit photos or stories or pictures or poems or videos showing us what wellness means to them. Then we will enter them into a draw to win a grand prize.”
Your contest submission could focus on:
- How you incorporate wellness at home, at work, or in the great outdoors;
- Showcasing the healthy opportunities your community offers; and
- Topics likephysical activity, healthy eating, injury prevention, mental wellness, tobacco reduction and more.
You can submit your entry on the Northern Health blog or via snail mail to their office. All submissions must be received or post-marked by September 3.
