UPDATE: Kozlowski misses Round Three cut at Junior Provincials

UPDATE:

Natasha Kozlowski has missed the 54-hole cut at the BC Junior Girls’ Championships in Kelowna.

The Prince George Golf and Curling Club member couldn’t crack the Top 28 for a right to play in the Final Round at the Okanagan Golf Club.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Prince George’s own Natasha Kozlowski is tied for 30th in 47-player field after 36 holes of the BC Junior Girls’ Championship at the Okanagan Golf Club in Kelowna.

Kozlowski fired a second round 84 (+12) to give her a total of 166.

The leader by nine shots is Alisha Lau of Richmond at 135 (-9).

There will be a cut to the top 28 players and ties following the third round of the 72-hole event.

JUNIOR BOYS:

Smithers product Joel Veenstra is making his strokes count at the BC Junior Boys’ Championships.

Through the first two rounds, the 17-year-old is tied for sixth at the provincial tournament hosted by the Squamish Valley Golf Club, six shots back of the lead.

The Bulkley Valley Christian student began with an opening round of 71 (-1) on Tuesday, ending Wednesday’s second round with a 74 (+2).

Veenstra has accumulated six birdies, 25 pars, and five bogeys-or-worse through 36 holes.

The Smithers Golf and Country Club (SGCC) member finished tied for 46th at the event last season at Arbutus Ridge GC near Duncan.

Veenstra also took home the gold medal at this year’s BC High School Provincial ‘A’ Championships in Christina Lake.

Meanwhile, Ryan Murray of Quesnel missed the second-round cut by 15 strokes, shooting scores of 87 and 89 (+32).

Cole Henderson, also representing Quesnel, withdrew after a first-round 96.
