Crews worked well into the night as 138 wildfires across the province Friday were sparked primarily in the North and Cariboo regions.

Almost 40 fires, which still remain active, were discovered in the Cariboo Fire Centre.

The largest according to the BC Wildfire Service information page is the Gustasfon Fire at 1,500 hectares.

In Williams Lake, both pumps at Chevron and Petro on Oliver Street have run dry of regular fuel and only have premium available as of 6AM Saturday morning.

“Highway 97 North is open to northbound traffic,” says chair for the Cariboo Regional District, Al Richmond.

“Highway 97 South between Williams Lake and 100 Mile House is open to northbound and southbound traffic.”
