Some good news has finally come from the current wildfire situation in BC.
The evacuation alert for the McBride Timber Road South area has now been rescinded.
Regional District of Fraser-Fort George Spokeswoman Renee McCloskey says crews were finally able to make some headway.
“Fire crews made some great progress on that fire and have deemed that an evacuation alert is no longer necessary. We are happy to remove that and share some good news with the residents in that area.”
The evacuation alert was first reported on Saturday.
The 10-hectare blaze is now being held according to Amanda Reynolds with the Prince George Fire Centre.
All open burning is now prohibited within the Prince George Fire Zone.
