Another avenue has opened up for those wanting to help those affected by the BC Wildfires – BC Liquor stores are now accepting cash donations.
You can contribute at the till in increments of $2 or $5 and multiples of those amounts. All proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross to cover the immediate needs of evacuees.
“The generosity and compassion shown by our customers and employees during times of crisis is something we are incredibly proud of – it is the foundation of our partnership with the Red Cross,” says Blain Lawson, general manager and liquor distribution branch CEO. “Our thoughts are with all British Columbians, and their family and friends, who are impacted by the current wildfire situation.”
Evacuation alerts and orders have been issued for a number of communities, and there are approximately 220 wildfires currently burning in British Columbia. The extended weather forecast is calling for continued hot, dry weather, with risks of thunderstorms in many parts of the province.

BC Liquor began partnering with Red Cross disaster relief in 2003, when catastrophic fires prompted a state of emergency in the province. To date, the partnership has raised more than $2.5 million for disaster relief efforts.
