Very little rain to aid wildfire activity across BC

Some rain is coming for Prince George and the Cariboo but it will provide very little relief from the recent wildfire activity.

Cindy Yu with Environment Canada says only 2 to 4 millimeters is predicted. “We are expecting a chance of showers today, this afternoon and tomorrow with a chance of showers with an unstable air mass.”

Lightning is a possibility for the city.

The outlook doesn’t look any better when we head to the Cariboo with even less rain in the forecast. “We’re really not seeing any relief in sight as far as 100 Mile House and Williams Lake are concerned they are expecting an even lesser amount of rain for the next two days,” says Yu.

In Prince George, Yu says the city is dealing with a low air-quality issue compared to the Cariboo including Williams Lake where the air quality is very poor.

Daily highs in Prince George are predicted to be in the 22 to 26 degree Celsius range for the rest of the week.

A special air quality statement has been issued for the city.
