Help for North Cariboo cattle owners impacted by wildfires

Supports are in place for cattle owners in light of the wildfires in the North Cariboo.

“There are two support systems in place, we know we’ve got a lot of cattle currently out on the range,” says Cariboo-North MLA Coralee Oakes.

“So if you have cattle on the range and you are in an evacuated or an alert area you can contact support through Tim or Sandra at 250-992-4400. If you have cattle that are on private land you can contact the same number but ask for Nicole.”

Oakes says they are recommending that some of the safest options are to simply open the gates.

“Through these numbers and they can walk you through a number of steps and a number of options as far as how you ID your tags and or ID the cattle and the process, so there is support for you on that.”

She also asks that people who are driving out of evacuated areas be careful and watch for cattle and livestock on the road.
