The Cariboo Regional District has now confirmed that eight known structures have been lost due to the wildfires in the region according to chair Al Richmond.
“We know we have had homes lost in 108 and 150 Mile, there have been six homes, one shop and one shed. I have contacted all the people that have experienced losses, so if they haven’t heard from me than their homes are safe. We’re now aware of losses at 105 Mile, but we need to do an inventory and then contact people appropriately.”
Richmond says it’s a miracle that more homes weren’t lost.
“I believe so, I have been on the ground at the 108, at 108 you have a house hit, another house standing there with a bit of siding melted on it, and then the next house standing on the other side destroyed. So within three of four lots, there are two houses gone and the other one still standing.”
There has been no human loss because of the Cariboo wildfires.
