Wildfire now seven kilometres from city of Williams Lake

We now have more information on the fire that forced the evacuation of Williams Lake.

Noelle Kekula is the Fire Information Officer for the Central Cariboo.

“The one that most people are interested in is the White Lake fire and it did cross the Fraser yesterday afternoon and it is approximately 7 kilometres north of Williams Lake.”

Kekula says crews are on it today, assessing and building control lines on it.

She says it was a tough day all around yesterday for firefighters in the Williams Lake area.

In some cases, Kekula says they had to withdraw for their own safety.
