A city-wide fire ban remains in effect for Prince George due to the heavy smoke from the wildfires.
The ban pertains to all recreational fires within city limits which include campfires.
The move is an additional measure from the province-wide fire ban previously announced by the province.
Prince George and Vanderhoof have both under a Smoky Skies Advisory for the past 10 days.
High concentrations of fine particulate matter are expected to hang around until the weather changes.
Exposure to fine particulate matter is of particular concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease.
Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
