A Quesnel man has been taken to hospital after attempting to jump into a river Thursday afternoon.
Around 4:30PM, local and North District RCMP received reports of man climbing over the railings of the Quesnel River Bridge with the intent of jumping into the frigid waters.
Mounties shut down traffic across the bridge to speak with him.
After strenuous talks, police approached the man and were able to physically restrain him by pulling him back over the rails to safety.
RCMP determined he was suffering from emotional distress.
The distraught man has been taken to GR Baker Memorial Hospital under the Mental Health Act for treatment.
