CNC receives award for its information technology program

A world-renowned IT organization, the Computing Technology Industry Association (COMPTIA), awarded the College of New Caledonia (CNC) today with a ‘rising star’ award for its commitment to educating students with globally recognized skills and knowledge of the IT industry.

A plaque was awarded in front of a group of instructors and students by COMPTIA’s Director of Business Development, Denise Woods-Goldstein.

“Hopefully this will raise awareness for prospective students to get into the program COMPTIA and IT that they recognizes this is one of the top schools in Canada.”

Since 2016, the school has demonstrated an increase of professionally certified students, offering students a wider pool of job prospects.

Monika Monika, a former student and one of the school’s lab techs, feels confident with the immense support from the school to be working in the IT field.

“It’s great that the college I’m working for is a rising star college and we will get more students wanting to enroll.”

IT Instructor and coordinator Michael Egglestone also is proud of this award.

“It goes to show we are providing the right curriculum, the right programming for students to make them employable.”

Previously students and industry professionals wishing to upgrade their skills would need to travel to Vancouver to be tested.

CNC offers two testing facilities allowing easier access for Northern BC students.
