One major highway saw some improvements become official last week.

Highway 16, at Bear Road and Kimball Road, has new traffic signals become operational on Thursday, November 16th.

The entire project includes the signals, traffic islands, and a right-turn lane for westbound traffic onto Kimball.

Both the Province of British Columbia and the City of Prince George teamed to fund the $1-million improvements.

This project hired local equipment and operators.

The goal for upgrades is to make the intersections not only safer and more efficient for motorists, but also safer for pedestrians when crossing the intersection.

Final work on the traffic islands will be completed in spring 2018.
