Colleen Van Mook describes the last 12 months “diverse”.
The Downtown PG Executive Director is pleased with the year that was, saying she thinks it was a leap in the right direction.
“There really is so much going on downtown, we’ve actually seen at least a dozen new businesses either set up shop in downtown or relocate to downtown,” she explains.
“We know that it’s not perfect, we know that our downtown does have it’s social issues.”
Van Mook says there’s been a lot of positive feedback from the community on Downtown PG’s various programs and projects with one of the more recent projects getting attention being the lighting decor.
Two events really stick out though, according to Van Mook.
“Definitely want to highlight that we put on two great events downtown, Downtown Summerfest and Downtown Winterfest, and those events really bring people into our downtown,” says Van Mook.
“We are very proud of the success that those particular events have brought to our community, as well as to our downtown.”
Looking ahead to 2018, Van Mook lists the levy bylaw renewal to keep their membership agreeing to support the organization financially; and the new businesses and developments as things that excites her.
